Among our services available to domestic business, we offer an integrated door to door sea/land transportation service for the transport of passengers and various cargoes such as passenger cars, trucks, trailers, containers, paper rolls, etc. between Tokyo and Hokkaido. This is offered by a combination of car ferries featuring the latest equipment, cargo ferries and roll-on/roll-off ships. At present, daily car ferry shuttle services operated by various shipping companies- the roll-on/roll-off ships operated by Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen, Ltd. and the cargo ferries operated jointly by Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen, Ltd. and Blue Highway Line- operate between Tokyo and Tomakomai. Our company introduced a car ferry service featuring a system where special trailers are used for cargo collection. The trailer is disconnected from the tractor and the ferry transports the trailer portion only. Upon arrival at the destination port, the trailer is connected to a waiting tractor for further transport, thereby permitting unattended transit of trailers. This tractor-less trailer transportation system furthermore contributes to a substantial reduction in damage to cargo, therefore this method is highly rated by our customers in regards to our present physical distribution system. Not surprisingly, demand for this system is increasing steadily.
