Marine Safety Service

The spread of industrialization and the physical distribution of goods on a global scale have inevitably been accomplished by an increase in traffic of large ships carrying petroleum and other industrial materials and products, and Tokyo Bay is becoming more and more crowded as seen today. This has not only increased the danger of marine disaster but also the fear of growing environmental pollution.
The Marine Traffic Safety Law has been enforced in Japan since 1973, obligating all large ships and vessels carrying dangerous cargo to be escorted in order to monitor hazards along harbor shipping routes. Additionally, the Marine Pollution Prevention Law requires appropriate environmental conservation measures to be adopted for all ships for the prevention of marine pollution. To cope with the situation, our company decided early on to enter into the operation of marine pollution prevention as well as marine disaster prevention and positioned our specially designed disaster boats for that purpose. The boats which are assigned to large vessels are equipped with fire fighting features with foam, water and dry chemical extinguishers and they are fully capable of providing safe service with escorting the vessels throughout the shipping route and in monitoring the loading and unloading operations. In Chiba Port, our boats are commissioned by the Maritime Disaster Prevention Center to carry out maritime disaster prevention service on behalf of its Chiba Base. In addition, our disaster prevention boats including one with a 2,200 meter oil-boom, are posted at Ichihara, Sodegaura, Chiba, Ichikawa and Funabashi areas, are incorporated into a joint marine disaster prevention organization established under the Petrochemical Processing Complex Disaster Prevention Law. We have also developed a machine to lay and recover the oil-boom and sliding joints (partially patented) based on our experience in the area of marine disaster prevention. These machines and devices are both recognized by the concerned industries as efficient tools for this purpose and our contribution in the area of disaster prevention has been highly valued.
